Description
What is CHERISH
CHERISH is a pre and early post emergent herbicide developed to give Pakistani sugarcane farmers strong, reliable and long duration control of annual grass weeds. It combines two powerful active ingredients. Halosulfuron Methyl belongs to the sulfonylurea chemistry group while Mesotrione belongs to the triketone group. The product is formulated as a Water Dispersible Granule that mixes quickly and spreads evenly in spray water.
Both active ingredients are widely recognized in global agriculture for delivering clean fields during the early to mid growth stages of crops. CHERISH is designed for sugarcane farmers who want strong weed suppression, reduced crop competition and better yield potential in all provinces including Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
CHERISH fits well into modern crop protection programs. It keeps sugarcane fields weed free during critical growth periods which helps the crop become stronger, healthier and more productive. It is suitable for farmers using both traditional flood irrigation and modern practices like drip or sprinkler irrigation.
Key Benefits
- Dual mode of action for dependable weed control
- Stops annual grasses before they compete with sugarcane
- Helps improve crop growth and final yield
- Long residual activity keeps fields cleaner for longer
- Works well in Pakistani climates and soil conditions
- Easy measurement and mixing due to WDG formulation
How It Works
CHERISH delivers weed control through two scientific modes of action.
1. Halosulfuron Methyl – ALS inhibitor (Group 2)
This ingredient blocks an enzyme inside weeds called acetolactate synthase. This enzyme is needed for weed growth and protein formation. When the enzyme stops working, weeds cannot grow new tissues. Their growth slows within a few days and they dry out soon after. Because it targets growth at the cellular level, it works on young and actively growing weeds.
2. Mesotrione – HPPD inhibitor (Group 27)
Mesotrione blocks the HPPD enzyme. This enzyme helps weeds produce essential pigments used for photosynthesis. When the pigments break down, weeds turn white and slowly die. This activity also gives long residual control which keeps new weeds from establishing.
When both chemistries work together, they give reliable and long lasting control of annual grasses in sugarcane fields. The dual action also reduces the chance of weed resistance.

Local Advice for Pakistani Farmers
CHERISH works well across Pakistan due to its stable chemistry and strong weed control capacity.
Punjab
Sugarcane areas like Rahim Yar Khan, Muzaffargarh and Faisalabad benefit from its strong residual activity. It helps reduce heavy grass pressure during warm months.
Sindh
In districts like Badin, Tando Allahyar and Thatta, CHERISH gives dependable performance under hot and humid climates. It supports better plant establishment under canal irrigation.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Suitable for sugarcane belts of Peshawar and Charsadda where early season weed competition is common due to fertile soil and good moisture.
Balochistan
Stable performance under dry and warm conditions. Helps sugarcane survive early weed pressure even in limited irrigation systems.
Using CHERISH contributes to weed control Pakistan strategies that aim to improve yield and manage resistant weeds effectively.
FAQs
How should I apply CHERISH in sugarcane?
Always follow label instructions or contact Farmisto Chemicals for the exact dose. Spray when weeds are at early growth stages and ensure full coverage for better control.
Is CHERISH safe for my crop and workers?
