Description
What is BASKER
BASKER is a triple action pre-emergence herbicide designed for strong and reliable weed control in maize fields. It contains Mesotrione 5 percent, Atrazine 25 percent and Propisochlor 15 percent in an OD formulation for better spreading and soil coverage. This unique combination offers control of a wide range of annual weeds that compete heavily with young maize plants during early growth stages.
Pakistani farmers in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan face increasing pressure from fast growing weeds that reduce maize yield potential. BASKER supports farmers by giving clean fields during the first critical 30 to 40 days. Cleaner fields mean better root growth, better nutrient uptake and stronger crop development.
BASKER is easy to use and fits very well into modern maize production systems across Pakistan.
Key Benefits
- Triple chemistry for wider weed control.
- Works well in pre pre-emergence stage for a clean start.
- Controls tough annual broadleaf and grassy weeds.
- Helps maize plants grow stronger without early competition.
- Good soil binding and stable weed suppression.
How It Works
BASKER uses three different herbicide groups that target weeds at multiple action points:
Mesotrione (Group 27 HPPD inhibitor)
Mesotrione blocks an enzyme that helps weeds produce important pigments. When pigments stop forming, weed leaves turn white and dry out. This mode of action is effective against many broadleaf weeds.
Atrazine (Group 5 Photosystem II inhibitor)
Atrazine stops weed photosynthesis by blocking energy transfer inside the leaf. Without energy, weeds slowly stop growing and die. Atrazine is well known worldwide for its effectiveness in maize systems.
Propisochlor (Group 15 long chain fatty acid inhibitor)
Propisochlor stops the formation of fatty acids needed for cell growth in young weed seedlings. This prevents germination and early establishment, making it very effective for pre-emergence use.
When combined, these three chemistries protect maize by attacking weeds before they emerge and also by suppressing early growth, giving a clean field for better crop establishment.

Local Advice for Pakistani Farmers
Farmers in Pakistan face different climate and soil patterns. BASKER performs well in all regions when used before weed emergence:
Punjab:
Suitable for irrigated maize systems. Works well in medium to clay soils found in central Punjab. Helps control fast growing summer weeds after canal irrigation.
Sindh:
Ideal for hot climate and early weed pressure. Use before first irrigation for best soil activation.
KPK:
Useful for spring and autumn maize in hilly and cooler areas. Soil moisture improves herbicide performance.
Balochistan:
Performs well in dry areas when applied before expected rainfall or planned irrigation. Helps maintain clean fields where weed pressure is sudden after rains.
Using BASKER supports better crop protection in Balochistan, KPK, Punjab and Sindh. It helps farmers manage weed pressure and improve yield potential across different agricultural zones.
FAQs
How should I apply BASKER in my maize field?
