Description

What is UMBRA

Umbra is a modern post emergence herbicide designed for wheat farmers in Pakistan who need quick, reliable and long lasting control of annual broadleaf weeds. It contains two powerful active ingredients. Tribenuron Methyl from the sulfonylurea family and Florasulam from the triazolopyrimidine family. These two chemistries work together to target stubborn broadleaf weeds that reduce yield, compete for nutrients and make wheat fields difficult to manage.

Umbra is formulated as a water dispersible granule that dissolves smoothly in the spray tank. It gives wheat a clean start during the early growing season. The combination of active ingredients delivers fast visible results and ensures healthy crop growth. Farmers in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Sindh will find Umbra especially useful because of its strong action against the common broadleaf weeds found in local fields.

Umbra is suitable for use in all major wheat growing zones and fits well in integrated weed management plans. The product has a pre harvest interval of 60 to 70 days. The pack size of 30 grams is ideal for farmers who prefer accurate, easy and economical application.

Key Benefits

  • Strong broadleaf weed control in wheat
  • Dual ALS inhibitor action for improved performance
  • Fast visible results for clean and healthy crop rows
  • Helps protect yield and improves fertilizer use efficiency
  • Easy to dissolve water dispersible granule
  • Suitable for all Pakistani wheat zones and climatic conditions

How It Works

Umbra works by blocking the activity of the ALS enzyme inside weed plants. ALS stands for acetolactate synthase. This enzyme is responsible for producing essential amino acids that weeds need for growth. Both Tribenuron Methyl and Florasulam are ALS inhibitors. They stop amino acid formation. Once this process is blocked, weeds cannot continue normal growth. Their cell division slows down and they gradually dry up.

The dual chemistry provides a wider spectrum and more consistent control than using only one active ingredient. It also reduces the chance of herbicide resistance because weeds are exposed to two ALS inhibiting molecules with slightly different binding characteristics. Wheat plants have natural metabolic tolerance to these chemistries, allowing Umbra to kill weeds without harming the crop when used according to guideline.

Local Advice for Pakistani Farmers

Pakistan’s wheat belt covers all four provinces. Umbra fits well in these varying conditions:

Punjab:

High weed pressure due to early sowing and irrigation. Umbra helps maintain clean rows for high yield wheat under canal irrigated systems.

Sindh:

Warm climate and mixed weed populations. Umbra supports weed management in both early and late sown wheat.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa:

Cool temperatures and rain fed farming. ALS chemistry works well in early spring weed flushes.

Balochistan:

Dry climate with limited moisture. Use Umbra after rainfall or irrigation when weeds are actively growing for best results.

FAQs

How does Umbra control weeds in wheat?

Umbra blocks the ALS enzyme inside weed plants. This stops amino acid production and prevents growth. Weeds slowly dry out and wheat continues healthy growth.

Is Umbra safe for my crop when used correctly?

Yes. Wheat has natural tolerance to the active ingredients. Follow label guidance, use clean water and avoid over application for safe results.

What is the PHI and how should I store Umbra?

The pre harvest interval is 60 to 70 days. Store Umbra in a cool, dry and shaded place. Keep away from food and children.
